Please reach us at kat@counselingwithkathlyn.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Your first session focuses on getting to know you: your concerns, goals, and what brings you to therapy. We’ll discuss what you hope to gain from the process and answer any questions you may have. It’s a collaborative, low-pressure conversation designed to help you feel comfortable.
Most therapy sessions are 50-minutes. However, length can vary depending on treatment type and your needs.
Therapy typically starts with weekly sessions. Some clients shift to biweekly or monthly as they progress. We’ll work together to determine a schedule that makes sense for your goals.
I offer in-person sessions, telehealth sessions, or a combination depending on what works best for you.
Yes. Your privacy is protected by law and by professional ethics. The only exceptions involve safety concerns, such as immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, or specific legal requirements. We’ll review confidentiality fully in the first session.
A good therapeutic fit is essential. If we discover that your needs would be better served elsewhere, I’ll help provide referrals or resources to support your care.
I am in network with Aetna. If you have Aetna and book through Headway, claims and billing are handled directly. If you have any other insurance, I am an out-of-network provider. You may be able to use your benefits by submitting superbills for reimbursement to your insurer. I can provide a detailed superbill and help guide you through the reimbursement process.
Staying out-of-network with other insurers allows me to maintain scheduling flexibility, longer session lengths when clinically needed, and to avoid restrictive insurer treatment mandates that can interfere with individualized care.
A superbill is a detailed receipt I can provide for your therapy sessions. It includes all the information your insurance company needs, such as diagnosis codes, service codes, dates of sessions, and fees, so you can submit it directly to them for possible reimbursement.
I offer a limited number of sliding-scale options, so therapy can remain accessible. A few spots are currently open.
Out of respect for both our time, cancellations require 24 hours’ notice. Sessions missed without notice, or canceled within 24 hours, will be charged the full fee. If we’re able to reschedule later that same week, the fee may be waived.
